CONTEXT:  Interesting data from Chile on large scale RWR data saying the CoronaVac vaccine from China was 85% effective in preventing hospitalisations and 80% effective in preventing deaths.  Couple of notes of caution on the news though.  The data is from a government report, not peer reviewed research.  The data is dramatically different to other published studies and the Chilean government agreed to run the study for China whilst agreeing to buy 60 million doses.  I’d like to see some more independent data before we get too excited about the old-school attenuated virus vaccines from China and India.
